David Smith's Rock and Roll Playground

I went to a concert. The Hot Hot Heat and two lesser known, and lesser quality bands named, the Oolahs, and Tiger Pride. The crowd wasn't that into it until the very end of the Hot Hot Heat despite my my best efforts, and partially due to fact that the crowd seemed reminicent of a TRL crowd..... Dave Peterson astutely pointed out we like the same music as 14 year old girls. Who knew? however, with about 7 songs left things got nice and we all went crazy. A good time was had by all, and I was three for three on touching the lead singers, and hug the drummer from H cubed. I felt like I accomplished something.

Happy Mothers Day.

I know mothers day was a few days ago but I was looking through old family photos and I like these two of my mom. what a catch dad. My mom had a lot of good pictures in the 60's. She has since sacrificed a lot on our behalf, and I would have never made it this far without such a caring, selfless, and well rounded mom. I love her very much and I am eternally grateful.

Blog Colored glasses.

I realized today that when I experience something, I try to remember and frame the scene in words to post on the internet later. I need some fresh air.

In conjunction with my last post, I saw a white kid with a full on Mexican Sombrero mowing a lawn today, Offensive? A little. Funny? A lot.

Stereotypes serve few legit purposes, most of the time they're ignorant but some times they're funny. Last week I saw a Mexican Family at Costco, all they bought was 8 bags of tortilla chips.

Today felt like a weekend. Full of high hopes and mild disappointment.

Fun With Photoshop

A Gentle Reminder not to be on the bad side of Justin, Landon, and Austin my room mates

I just asked for horns and a halo to go along with my angel and devil tattoos and I got this masterpiece.
Also I thought I'd let you in on what happens late nights when you have photo shop in the home. mythical creatures, movie heros, and priceless works of art.

here are some mash ups of people we know, maybe you recognize them.

and Last but not least in the corners of face book if you knwo where to look you might find these goodies. Over Christmas Austin made some motivational posters of all his room mates (see Austin's facebook album) so I made this one in retaliation. Little did I know what I was getting into.

This Is what happened when Landon got a hold of them.

and then Justin.

So I saw a couple of things yesterday that give me hope for when I'm old.

1. An old man in a wheelchair asked me and Dave to help him into his car using his motorized lift. He had two things that I admired, First he was a very pleasant man despite having some challenges in his life, and Second, he had a sweet motorized lift.

2. While at Target I caught a grandma whipping a shopping cart with her grandson (or at least hope it's his grandson, I guess she could have just kidnapped that kid.) in it around a corner while making a racing noises and screeching tires, only to run down the next Aisle. Man, I want to marry someone like that!

3. I Saw an old woman crossing the street in a crowd. the situation was very much like in a movie or on TV where a boy scout should help her cross;in fact, me and Justin, my room mate almost got out and helped her across after the 14 year old failed to help her cross and complete the perfect movie moment, however, she got across successfully. Way to go granny!
4. At Costco Dave and I stopped in to get what is affectionately called, "Trashy Lunch." When we sat down with our pizza, a group of 6 old men 60 or greater converged of the condiments bar with their hot dogs, and polish sausages to get their fixin's, First, it was a sight to be seen, plaid shirts and blue jeans as far as the eye could see. Second, it reminded me of my dad and how introduced to the polish sausage as a child in a Costco store. Third, I think Costco is only place where upper middle class people of all ages enjoy a hot dog on a regular basis.

5. Finally, I went over to a friends house to watch the office last night (wasn't the best episode but, good none the less). when we got their her grandparents were watching the Utah jazz play the Houston rockets in game six of their playoff series. Her Grandma had to fill me in on the playoffs; it was humbling and inspiring. Once again, I would like to marry a girl like that.

I thought this was a pretty good day for all old people, and some of us young one who knew where to look.
